Free, Confidential Pregnancy Test & Ultrasound

Why do I need a pregnancy test?

Your period is late. Your breasts are sore. You feel nauseous and moody. You need to find out if you are pregnant so that you can plan your next move – look at your options, get prenatal care, gather your support team, and more. At Crossroads, you receive a free, lab-quality urine pregnancy test and obtain accurate test results in minutes.

Why do I need an ultrasound?

So you got a positive test, but we know nothing else about this pregnancy. If the pregnancy is VIABLE, your baby’s heart began beating at 4 weeks gestational age. And if you’ve missed your period by about 2 weeks, you should be able to see the little HEARTBEAT fluttering on the ultrasound screen. Find out if you’re having one or two babies. And, most importantly, make sure you aren’t experiencing an ECTOPIC pregnancy (in your tubes), which can be very dangerous if undetected.

If you’re considering abortion, you need to know the GESTATIONAL AGE of the baby, which will help you and your Crossroads counselor to know which ABORTION PROCEDURES to discuss when considering your options. In Louisiana, a patient wanting to obtain an abortion MUST, by law, get an ultrasound before the abortion. Whoever provides this ultrasound MUST provide you with an explanation of the results seen on the screen and must also offer you the opportunity to see your baby if you wish.

What is the cost?

There is no cost for the pregnancy test or ultrasound. You do not need to have any insurance. No strings attached.

Do my parents have to know?

No. In the state of Louisiana, pregnancy related services are considered confidential even for minors (with the exception of abortion because parental consent is required to abortion). You are protected by HIPAA and other privacy laws. And since we don’t charge or bill insurance, your parents won’t find out that way either. We still encourage you to involve your parents along the way if you are pregnant, but we can help you get to that place if you’re not there yet.

Now what?

It’s up to YOU, but we’ll help you figure it out. Some of the most common issues clients face when they get the news are 1) who and how to tell, 2) what are my options – abortion parenting, adoption, 3) how can I finish school, 4) what resources are available to help, 5) what are the rights of the father, and more.

We can help you every step of the way throughout your pregnancy and into your baby’s first year of parenting.

Remember: WE RESPECT EVERY WOMAN or MAN WHO IS OUR PATIENT, NO MATTER WHAT DECISION YOU CHOOSE. If you are struggling with a past decision of abortion, we can support you through the healing process.
