Get the Details You Need
A positive pregnancy test is an important first step, but it doesn’t tell you everything you need to know. If you’re facing an unexpected pregnancy, it’s crucial to get as much information as possible to fully consider all your options and prioritize your health.
That’s where an ultrasound comes in.
At Crossroads Pregnancy Resource Center, we provide no-cost limited diagnostic ultrasounds to help confirm details about your pregnancy. Scans are performed by a registered sonographer and reviewed to ensure accurate information.
What an Ultrasound Can Tell You
An ultrasound uses sound waves to create an image of the pregnancy, allowing healthcare providers to take a more in-depth look and gather information. This scan answers three essential questions:
1. Is the pregnancy viable?
Viability refers to whether the pregnancy is progressing and whether a heartbeat can be detected. As many as 26% of all pregnancies end in miscarriage, sometimes without obvious symptoms. Knowing this information is vital before making any decisions.
2. How far along am I?
Gestational age determines what options may be available to you. If you’re considering abortion, you need an ultrasound first.
Specific procedures are time-sensitive, and confirming how far along you are protects your health. Medical abortion, for example, is only FDA-approved through 10 weeks gestation.
3. Is the pregnancy located in the uterus?
In rare cases, a pregnancy can develop outside the uterus. This is called an ectopic pregnancy and requires immediate medical attention. Ultrasound confirms whether the pregnancy is located, so you can seek prompt treatment if needed.
